HE CAME TO BLESS

Gal. 3:8,9 – And the Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel to Abraham beforehand, saying, “In you all the nations shall be blessed.” So then those who are of faith are blessed with believing Abraham.

Life can sometimes be really a drag. It may seem as if whatever can go wrong usually does. Actually that is what Christmas is all about. Jesus came because life is tough. He came to reverse the results of the fall of man, that horrible curse that all of us have labored under. He came to bring blessing into our lives. From His appearance in Bethlehem, over 2000 years ago, He has brought hope into a very dark world. The announcement of His birth by the angels came cloaked in light. The darkness of that Bethlehem night was penetrated by the glory of the Lord that shone all around. There words were a pronouncement that darkness was being rolled back. “And the angel said to them, ‘Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.'”

Jesus birth was good news of great joy, a fallen race was being restored by the appearance of the Son of God. Here are some thoughts from John Piper on the reason Christ came.
“God said to his Son in heaven, “The time is fulfilled; I have promised blessing; now is the time to make good on my promise; you will be my emissary of blessing; I want blessing to come to the world; I have so much to give; go now and bless my people, bless them; indeed bless all the families of the earth through them, bless them, bless them….So I say to you that God is moving toward you with blessing in this Advent season. It doesn’t matter that two millennia have passed. With God, a thousand years is as a day. With him, it is as though he made this promise two days ago. That’s how fresh the blessing for you is today. If you will move toward him in faith, you will receive the blessing. That is what Christmas is all about—the greatest blessing.”
I believe that, God is moving toward you as you wait in anticipation this Christmas season. A Son has been born for you, blessing is in His hand, and your life rests upon His shoulders.
