Choosing the right leader to vote for is every person's responsibility. But we are not left without any help from the Lord.
God gave us His Word, and inside it are precious instructions and wisdom that will guide us in choosing the right person.
Not convinced? Here are three reasons why God's Word should be our guide in choosing the right person to vote for as leader.
1. God Knows All Men Perfectly
When candidates campaign to get votes, they usually present their good sides to people and hide the ugly truths that might cause them to deny their support. This tactic has been found to be effective through the years and, sadly, many people aren't getting any wiser: Many are fooled by a candidate's deceitful words.

The Word of God, however, is precise in revealing a person's true colours. Hebrews 4:12 tells us, "For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires."
How could the Word expose a person's hidden agenda? It's because the One who spoke it knows all men.
"Nothing in all creation is hidden from God. Everything is naked and exposed before his eyes, and he is the one to whom we are accountable." (Hebrews 4:13)

2. It Describes the Right Values Required for Righteous Leadership
The Word of God contains various passages describing in detail the right kind of leader for every area of leadership existing. It describes all kinds of leaders and the possible kinds of leadership they have. The Bible gives us various examples of leaders who do pleasing or wicked things in the sight of God, and it's best to learn from it.
3. The Word of God Helps Us Decide Right
Not only does the Word of God expose a person's character and describe the best kind of leaders, it also helps us decide right by giving us both the wisdom to choose and the urgency to make the right choice. Consider these verses:
"Now therefore, fear the Lord, serve Him in sincerity and in truth, and put away the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the River and in Egypt. Serve the Lord!" (Joshua 24:14)
"So Ahab summoned all the people of Israel and the prophets to Mount Carmel. Then Elijah stood in front of them and said, 'How much longer will you waver, hobbling between two opinions? If the Lord is God, follow him! But if Baal is God, then follow him!' But the people were completely silent." (1 Kings 18:20-21)
"Then Jesus said to his disciples, 'If any of you wants to be my follower, you must give up your own way, take up your cross, and follow me. If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake, you will save it. And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul? Is anything worth more than your soul?'" (Matthew 16:24-26)
