Tina Knowles-Lawson, the mother of singers Beyoncé and Solange, filed a divorce from Matthew Knowles back in 2010 after she learned that he had been unfaithful to her.
Despite this fact, Knowles-Lawson never lost hope on love, and she decided that God would be the only One who can help her choose the right man to love. “After I went through my divorce, I said that this time, I’m going to pray for the type of man that I should have, and I did,” she shared during the 2016 Merge Summit last week in Los Angeles, California, according to the Los Angeles Sentinel.
She met Richard Lawson three and a half years ago through a mutual friend named Monica. Knowles-Lawson attended his dance class, where 40 “thirsty” women signed up. After the class, Monica asked Richard if he knew of any men who could be introduced to Knowles-Lawson.
Richard then asked her what kind of man Knowles-Lawson was looking for, and she answered, “Well, somebody with integrity, somebody who believes in God, who likes to dance. I mean, I gave him this long laundry list of things.”
Surprisingly, Richard offered himself. As their friendship grew, so did their love for one another. “Little by little, all of the things that were naturally connective, the connective tissue with us, happened in a beautiful, sort of evolutionary way,” Richard shared.
Earlier, Beyoncé credited her mother for supporting her amidst all of her life’s challenges. The “Lemonade” singer said she can always count on her mother to pray for her whenever tough times come knocking.
“One of the best things about my mother is her ability to sense when I am going through a tough time,” Beyoncé told Elle Magazine. “She texts me the most powerful prayers, and they always come right when I need them. I know I’m tapped into her emotional Wi-Fi.”
