Key Thought

The sickening answer to Pilate's question reverberates through time—"Crucify him!" How horrible this is! Yet as much as evil people are responsible for Jesus' death, this is also God's plan. However, we should feel the emotional and spiritual agony of the Savior as people he had made now call for his death. When we feel rejected, we have to know that we can talk to Jesus and know that he hears us and cares. He has been there… all alone… abandoned, betrayed, and denied by his closest friends… hated by the religious leaders… rejected by the people he came to save.

Prayer

O Father, I sometimes feel isolated and alone, rejected and betrayed by those I trusted. However, dear God, knowing that your Son faced this and now is at your right hand to plead my case to you, I know that I am not alone and that I am never rejected at your throne of mercy and grace. In Jesus' name I thank you. Amen.

Related Scriptures

Those children are people with physical bodies. So Jesus himself became like those people and had the same experiences people have. Jesus did this so that, by dying, he could destroy the one who has the power of death. That one is the devil. Jesus became like those people and died so that he could free them. They were like slaves all their lives because of their fear of death. Clearly, it is not angels that Jesus helps. Jesus helps the people who are from Abraham.
Hebrews 2:14-16

My dear children, I write this letter to you so that you will not sin. But if any person sins, we have Jesus Christ to help us. He is the righteous (good) One. Jesus defends us before God the Father. Jesus is the way our sins are taken away. And Jesus is the way that all people can have their sins taken away, too.
1 John 2:1-2

But Jesus lives forever. He will never stop serving as priest. So Christ can save those people who come to God through him. Christ can do this forever, because he always lives, ready to help people when they come before God.
Hebrews 7:24-25
