Key Thought

There are consequences for rejecting the Son of God. In this case, the leaders who put the Son to death would find themselves—and their positions—absolutely powerless and defeated. Some of them would die because of their rejection of the Son when Jesus’ prediction of destruction came true in 40 years. We need to know that those who reject the Son of God today also face dire consequences. While God is supremely about grace, the consequences of rejecting that grace and having to face the full fury of the evil one’s desire are horrific.

Prayer

Father, please use me to reach out to those who have rejected your Son. I know that you want all people to come to repentance and to come to you. Use me as an instrument of your grace and help those around me come to know your Son as their Lord and Savior. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

Related Scriptures

I tell you the truth. An {important} time is coming. That time is already here. People that are dead {in sin} will hear the voice of the Son of God. And the people that {accept the things they} hear {from the Son} will have life {forever}. Life comes from the Father (God) himself. So the Father has also allowed the Son (Jesus) to give life. And the Father has given the Son the power to judge all people. Why? Because that Son is the Son of Man. Don’t be surprised at this. A time is coming when all people that are dead and in their graves will hear his voice. Then they will come out of their graves. The people that did good in this life will rise and have life forever. But the people that did evil will rise to be judged guilty.
John 5:25-29

This is what God told us: God has given us eternal life. And this eternal life is in his Son (Jesus). The person who has the Son has {true} life. But the person who does not have the Son of God does not have life.
1 John 5:11-12

Yes, God loved the world so much that he gave his only Son. God gave his Son so that every person that believes in him would not be lost, but have life forever. God sent his Son into the world. God did not send his Son to judge the world guilty. God sent his Son so that the world could be saved through his Son.
John 3:16-17
