Peter’s Real Truth – Mark 14:30

Key Passage

Jesus answered, "I tell you the truth. Tonight you will say you don't know me. You will say this three times before the rooster crows twice."

Key Thought

"The truth is …" Ouch! "You can't stand the truth!" is the old movie line delivered by Jack Nicholson. I'm afraid we might not be able to stand the full truth of our own weakness. Yet because of the forgiveness of the Lord and power of the Holy Spirit, we can be resilient and useable to the Master. Three denials do not mean forever banishment from grace. They are just a sobering reminder of our desperate need for honest humility and the power of God's Spirit.

Prayer

O LORD, please give me the strength I need this day to be strong in your service, faithful in my promises, and tender in my dealings with others. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

I have prayed that you will not lose your faith! Help your brothers be stronger when you come back to me."
Luke 22:32

God is in the light (goodness). We should live in the light, too. If we live in the light, then we share fellowship with each other. And when we live in the light, the blood (death) of Jesus cleanses us from all sin. (Jesus is God's Son.) If we say that we have no sin, we are fooling ourselves, and the truth is not in us. But if we confess (admit) our sins, then God will forgive our sins. We can trust God to do this. God does what is right. God will make us clean from all the wrong things we have done.
1 John 1:7-9

If a person is proud, then he is in danger of destruction. If a person thinks he is better than other people, then he is in danger of defeat.
