Worship Releases the Spirit’s Power (Oct 9th)

Verse

Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another with psalms, hymns and songs from the Spirit. Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ.

Ephesians 5:18-21 tniv

Thought

One of the reasons worship with other believers is so important is because it releases the Holy Spirit and the Spirit fills us in worship and empowers our service to others. We are filled with the Holy Spirit when we sing, make music in our hearts, speak to one another in song, pray, and open Scripture. Unfortunately, we often simply think we are “going to church.” Instead, God challenges us to see our time with other believers as a time to be “filled with the Holy Spirit.” So rather than go to church this week, come meet with other believers with the expectation of the Holy Spirit moving and filling each of us as we seek the Lord! Let’s release the Spirit’s power as we worship the Lord and encourage each other!

Prayer

O Father, I know the Holy Spirit blesses my life in so many ways, but today I want to thank you for releasing the power of the Holy Spirit in worship. In Jesus name I pray. Amen
