You’ll See Me and then Know! – Mark 14:61-62

Key Passage

But Jesus said nothing. He did not answer. The high priest asked Jesus another question: "Are you the Christ, the Son of the blessed {God}?" Jesus answered, "Yes, I am the Son of God. And in the future you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right side of the Great One (God). And you will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven."

Key Thought

Jesus only response—and it is not a defense of himself, but a warning to those who think him an enemy—is that he is the Messiah and that he will return in power from God after they have done what they want with him. Those who were so sure Jesus was evil, those who were so absorbed in killing Jesus to get him out of the way, those who were so sure it was better that he die, and those who are so sure today that Jesus was just a man, will see him. This time, however, it will be when he comes in glory. For those of us who long for his return, this will be a day of glory. For those who opposed him and who do not know him, this will be a day of unrivaled sorrow. Jesus gives us a powerful example of courage in the face of trial. He reminds us that we don't need to prepare what we will say when we face trials, but that he will be with us and the Holy Spirit will give us the right words to say. Most of all, Jesus is the great witness that those who trust in the Lord will share in the his victory.

Prayer

O Father, may Jesus come soon. Until the day he returns, please use me to serve others and bring them to come to believe in him. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

Related Scriptures

My life is being given as an offering for God. The time has come for me to leave this life here. I have fought the good fight. I have finished the race. I have kept the faith. Now, a crown (reward) is waiting for me. I will get that crown for being right with God. The Lord is the judge who judges rightly. He will give me the crown on that Day. Yes! He will give that crown to me. He will give that crown to all people who have wanted him to come again and have waited for him.
2 Timothy 4:6-8

You know very well that the day the Lord comes again will be {a surprise} like a thief who comes at night. People will say, "We have peace and we are safe." At that time destruction will come to them quickly. Destruction will come like the pains of a woman who is having a baby. And those people will not escape. But you, brothers and sisters, are not living in darkness (sin). And so that day will not surprise you like a thief. You are all people who belong to the light (goodness). You belong to the day. We don't belong to the night or to darkness (evil). So we should not be like other people. We should not be sleeping. We should be awake and have self-control. People who sleep, sleep at night. People who get drunk, get drunk at night. But we belong to the day (goodness), so we should control ourselves. We should wear faith and love to protect us. And the hope of salvation should be our helmet. God did not choose us to suffer his anger. God chose us to have salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ. Jesus died for us so that we can live together with him. It is not important if we are alive or dead {when Jesus comes}. So encourage each other and make each other stronger {in faith}. And you are doing that now.
1 Thessalonians 5:2-11

Look, Jesus is coming with the clouds! Every person will see him, even the people who pierced him. All people of the earth will cry loudly because of him. Yes, this will happen! Amen. The Lord God says, "I am the Alpha and the Omega. I am the One who is, who {always} was, and who is coming. I am the All-Powerful."
