Christian couple reveal women’s unique gift and what men truly want in a marriage

There is a reason why God created men and women, and why He blesses marriage between the two. Both genders complement each other in marriage, but because men and women think and act differently, sometimes problems ensue.

Christian couple Ken and Trudi Blount write in an article for Charisma News that it’s never good for man to be alone, so God decided to give him a “helper.”

“The definition of the word helper reveals to us how God designed marriage to work. This is really critical to understand if you are going to build a long, happy marriage that will withstand the devil’s attacks. A marriage secret is revealed once again in the Hebrew language,” they explain.

The word helper is formed by two different words—ezer and neged. Ezer means help, and neged is translated as “suitable.”

“It can also mean ‘opposite’ or even ‘over against.’ Put the two words together and they are ezer neged, which means ‘a helper opposite’ or even ‘a helper against,'” they add.

Women were created to be strong in marriage. While it is true that women are described as “the weaker vessel” in 1 Peter 3:7, the Blounts say this is only true physically. When it comes to mental and spiritual strength, women are equal with men.

“Women have a God-given ability to see things, both physically and spiritually, that men often don’t see. Women just seem to be wired to take in details that men often miss. This is the gift God gave Adam the day He made Eve—a strong military ally, a partner with different gifts than he had,” they say. “God endowed women with a unique ability to ‘see the enemy’ — to recognise things men don’t innately see.”

Meanwhile, the Blounts say that men are “fixers” who want to solve problems. Men don’t talk to de-stress; they simply take action and get on their “fixer mode.”

So whenever wives want to talk to their husbands, the Blounts suggest that they be upfront: “I need to talk to you about something, but I don’t want you to fix anything. I just need you to listen.”
