Family Research Council President Tony Perkins’ home destroyed by flood of ‘near biblical proportions’

Family Research Council (FRC) President Tony Perkins is one of the victims of the massive flooding that struck Louisiana earlier this week. According to him, the deluge was "near biblical proportions."

In the Soundcloud for the FRC, Perkins says his family was forced to flee their home using a canoe, and they had to temporarily set up home in a RV motorhome.

"This is unlike anything we've seen before… It's a matter of picking up the pieces. We had about 10 feet of water at the end of our driveway. Our house flooded, a few of our cars flooded," he says.

Critics said some people from the LGBT community felt vindicated with what happened to Perkins' home since he once preached that God sends natural disasters to punish gays.

It all started when Messianic Jewish pastor Jonathan Cahn suggested that Hurricane Joaquin, which devastated the Bahamas, was a "sign of God's wrath." Perkins agreed, adding that hurricanes have been perceived in the past as a sign that "God is trying to send us a message."

But after his home was destroyed by the flood, Perkins now says that the natural disaster occurred because it is an "incredible, encouraging spiritual exercise to take you to the next level in your walk with an almighty and gracious God who does all things well."

He even posted a couple of photos of his submerged home on his Facebook page and wrote, "A couple of photos of our home and property this weekend during the Louisiana flood. A devastating situation for our entire community. Appreciate the prayers of so many of you! If you or your church is interested in sending folks to Baton Rouge to help with clean up, let Samaritan's Purse know."

Many comments were unkind. "Does this mean you will come out of the closet, confirm [your] homosexuality, and seek redemption?" Tony Moon comments. Sara Rosenberger adds, "Maybe this is a punishment for all of your craziness and hate you preach!!!"
