One Million Moms protests against Hardee’s and Carl’s Jr.’s sensual 3-way ad

(Facebook/Hardee’s) Hardee’s is known for using provocative ads to lure customers.

The Christian watchdog group One Million Moms is protesting against the new ad of Hardee’s and Carl’s Jr., which shows three scantily clad models licking the sauce off in the Bacon 3-Way Thickburger “Fantasy” commercial.

“Will Hardee’s and Carl’s Jr. ever learn? They are at it again with another disgusting ad,” the group writes on its website. “Their current sensual 3-way advertisement follows the pattern set by their last commercial featuring girls in skimpy shorts playing in a volleyball game. These ads are extremely degrading to women and should be pulled off the air immediately.”

The group considers the ad of CKE Restaurants as “soft porn,” and warns families against patronising their establishments unless the ad is pulled down.

One Million Moms says CKE Restaurants might cater to families, but the company has consistently used sex to sell their products. Back in 2003, Hardee’s featured Playboy owner Hugh Hefner as a poster celebrity, and shortly after, it used an erotic ad featuring a mechanical bull and a scantily clad model.

In 2005, Hardee’s showcased another pornographic ad with Paris Hilton as model. In 2009, Hardee’s tried selling their new “Biscuit holes” by featuring an ad with customers using “verbiage such as B holes, A holes, dingle balls, and biscatles (as in testicles).”

When One Million Moms contacted the company about their ads, particularly the one featuring Kate Upton wearing skimpy lingerie and making out with a burger at a drive in movie, the company ignored the complaint and continued to air three different commercials with the same theme.

“In the past, CKE’s reply has been that men are its target market, but women, especially moms, make the majority of meal decisions. Not to mention a majority of the men ‘targeted’ have wives and daughters they love and respect and are offended by an advertising choice that is degrading to women,” One Million Moms says. “These fathers also have sons they do not want exposed to CKE’s sexually explicit content, which is considered soft porn by many families.”

The group has started a petition, with currenly 8,000 signatures, hoping to stop CKE Restaurants’ offensive ads. “If Hardee’s and Carl’s Jr. continue to advertise in this manner and refuse to remove their recent ad, conservative families will continue to avoid CKE Restaurants,” One Million Moms warns.
