XXX Church issues porn warning: ‘Just because something feels good doesn’t mean we should pursue it’

People mistakenly dabble into pornography thinking it’s easy to get out of, but XXX Church, an online ministry dedicated to helping people with porn and sex addiction, warns that porn is magnetic and it’s hard to recover from.

“Pornography promises so much, and it delivers on it. It promises you attention and good feelings. It promises you relief, release, and relaxation. It promises you the reward of sexual fulfilment, if even for a moment,” Zachary Horner writes on their website.

Unfortunately, once people get hooked, it’s hard for them to leave. People continue seeking sexual pleasure in the hopes of “filling a craving,” but it only winds up leaving people empty.

“It leaves you with just a few moments of pleasure and then a heck of a lot of emptiness. But when you’re addicted and you’re craving a fix, you keep coming back,” says Horner.

To people thinking of pursuing their interest in porn, XXX Church is giving this warning: “We have to understand that just because something feels good doesn’t mean we should pursue it.”

For those already caught in porn’s trap, Horner says they must acknowledge the magnetic nature of pornography.

“It’s something that draws our attention and our time in an intense and fierce way, with the potential to fight through and take over every part of our lives, but when we ignore that magnetism, we won’t give it the effort we need,” he says.

Once people come face to face with this reality about porn, Horner says they’ll find a way to overcome their addictions because they’ll implement proper mechanisms to block porn, or surround themselves with people who can hold them accountable.

“Fortunately, there are many stories of men and women who have been in this place, who have been hooked, and who have gotten themselves off the hook. Let us all, those who are losing the fight and those who are winning, seek to join their ranks, be one of the many who found real, lasting victory,” he urges.
