The abortion activist who bragged about her abortion at the Democratic Convention where Hillary Clinton was nominated is considering a run to become the chair of the Democratic Party.
NARAL president Ilyse Hogue spoke to the Democratic national convention bragged about the abortion she had. During her convention speech, Hogue claimed the abortion was the “best decision” for her — ignoring whether it was in the best interests of her unborn child to take his or her life. Hogue eventually called the decision a “compassionate” one. She said:
To succeed in life, all we need are the tools, the trust, and the chance to chart our own path. I was fortunate enough to have these things when I found out I was pregnant years ago. I wanted a family, but it was the wrong time. I made the decision that was best for me – to have an abortion – and was able to get compassionate care at a clinic in my own community. Now, years later, my husband and I are parents to two incredible children.
My story is not unique. About one in three American women have abortions by the age of 45, and the majority are mothers just trying to take care of the families they already have. You see, it’s not as simple as bad girls get abortions and good girls have families. We are the same women at different times in our lives – each making decisions that are the best for us.
Now, Hogue is considering a run to head the DNC:
Ilyse Hogue, who leads NARAL Pro-Choice America, would join former and current Democratic officials and lawmakers in the race, and would be the only woman in the running to replace interim chair Donna Brazile.

“In the last week many people within the Democratic Party at both the national and state level have approached Ilyse about running for chair of the party,” NARAL national communications director Kaylie Hanson Long said in a statement Tuesday. “She is listening and considering all her options.”
Democrats are racing to decide their party’s future leadership after Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton’s shocking loss one week ago to Donald Trump.
Hanson Long said Hogue considers the DNC chair a “full time position” critical for acting as a counter to Trump’s agenda.
“[Hogue], like millions of Americans, wants to do everything in her power to stop Trump from enacting his dangerous and reckless policies. She will be considering what platform is best to accomplish that goal in the days and weeks ahead,” she said.
She added that Democrats should carefully consider who would best represent them as DNC chair after last week’s crushing defeat.
“Ilyse feels strongly that we should not rush to a decision on the next chair, and we should consider people of all backgrounds, representing all constituencies of the Democratic Party,” Hanson Long said.
