Donald Trump: “I Will Pick Great Supreme Court Justices” Like Antonin Scalia

At a Republican rally last night in Pennsylvania, GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump said his potential Supreme Court justices are a huge reason pro-life and Republican voters should consider supporting him over Hillary Clinton.

Trump renewed his call for U.S. Supreme Court Justices who will follow the Constitution rather than make laws from the bench.

During a rally which attracted thousands of people to Cumberland Valley High School outside Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, Trump said that as President he would appoint Justices similar in philosophy to the late Justice Antonin Scalia. In sharp contrast, Democratic Presidential nominee Hillary Clinton has pledged a pro-abortion litmus test for Supreme Court Justices

Acknowledging that not every Republican voter supported him in the primary election and that some conservatives and independents may still have reservations about him and his campaign, Trump said the Supreme Court would be important enough to voters who may not even like him because they understand the issue is bigger.

“Even if they don’t like me — which you do — even if they don’t like me they have to vote for me because I am going to pick great Supreme Court justices,” he said.

Maria Gallagher, legislative and political action committee director for the Pennsylvania Pro-Life Federation, appreciates Trump’s focus on picking good judges for the nation’s highest court — which will continue to determine abortion’s fate for decades to come.

“Donald Trump understands the havoc an activist bench has wreaked on our beloved nation,”she said.

Gallagher told LifeNews.com that the divide between what Trump says he will do and what Clinton promises to do is a wide chasm.

“Hillary Clinton will not appoint strict constructionists to the High Court. Rather, she is committed to naming Justices who will not only uphold the tragic 1973 ruling Roe v. Wade, but would expand it,” Gallagher added.

SIGN THE PLEDGE: I Pledge to Vote for a Pro-Life Candidate for President

According to figures from the abortion industry itself, Roe has led to the deaths of more than 58 million unborn children in the U.S. It has also scarred countless numbers of women, who must live everyday with the grief of losing a child to abortion, she said.

Gallagher indicated to LifeNews that Board of Directors of the Pennsylvania Pro-Life Federation PAC has unanimously endorsed Trump for President. Trump supports a ban on brutal late-term abortions. In sharp contrast, Clinton fought against the popular federal ban on Partial-Birth Abortion, which outlawed a gruesome practice in which a baby is partly delivered, then killed, she explained.

She said she appreciates that Trump also supports a ban on having our hard-earned taxpayer dollars support organizations that perform abortions. However, Clinton opposes barring government funding of abortions. She supports the repeal of the Hyde Amendment, which bans federal funding of abortion except in rare circumstances. More than one million lives have been saved in the U.S. as a result of the Hyde Amendment, according to estimates from National Right to Life.

“Trump is pro-woman, pro-family, and pro-life—and that is why he is the best choice for President,” Gallagher said.
