How Can Pro-Abortion Hillary Clinton Say “The True Measure of Society is How We Treat Children”

Politicians just love to bring up “the children” when they are trying to secure votes.

Children are the most vulnerable human beings in any given culture, and appeals to their suffering tend to draw compassion and motivation to action in ways that other things don’t — as they should. However, politicians know this and often use “the children” angle to tout how their plans are the only ones that will truly save the children from what ever problems society is facing at the time.

And that’s the angle that pro-abortion Democrat Hillary Clinton used on Tuesday in a column for The New York Times.

The problem is that Clinton’s plans for the most vulnerable of all children in America – those in the womb – will only lead to more suffering and death.

“The true measure of any society is how we take care of our children,” Clinton wrote. “With all of our country’s resources, no child should ever have to grow up in poverty. Yet every single night, all across America, kids go to sleep hungry or without a place to call home.”

But if Clinton has her way, more will be aborted, too. Clinton recently promised Planned Parenthood that she would work to overturn the Hyde Amendment and force taxpayers to pay for abortions through Medicaid.

The Hyde Amendment, which has had decades of strong, bipartisan support, has saved more than 1 million children from abortion in the past 40 years. If Clinton succeeds in overturning it, an estimated 33,000 more unborn babies would lose their lives to abortion every year in America. Currently, about 1.1 million unborn babies are aborted legally in the U.S. each year.

Clinton’s appeal to compassion for children in her column this week is ironic given her pro-abortion plans.

She wrote:

As president, I will continue my life’s work focused on creating opportunities for children and fairness for families. We need to expand access to high-quality child care and guarantee paid leave so parents at all income levels can balance their jobs and lives. And we will work to double investments in Early Head Start and make preschool available to every 4-year-old because our children deserve the best possible start in life.

She promised to create new “opportunities” for children, if elected, but those opportunities only would be available to children who are born. Back in April, she told The View that babies just hours before birth have no Constitutional rights.

The pro-abortion candidate also has defended the gruesome partial-birth abortion procedure, and opposed bans on discriminatory abortions based on a baby’s sex or disability. In a move that could affect the fates of unborn babies for years to come, Clinton also promised to nominate U.S. Supreme Court justices who will ensure that Roe v. Wade and abortion on demand up until birth remain the law of the land.
