ISIS executes scores of prisoners in new ‘Hell of the Apostates’ propaganda video

Reuters – ISIS gunmen prepare to execute five young men by the roadside for various alleged offences including refusal to fast during Ramadan.

The blindfolded men were led to their pre-dug graves and shot in the back of the head at close range one by one.

The Islamic State (ISIS) terror group released last week what it dubbed as “Hell of the Apostates,” a propaganda video showing a new series of mass executions of prisoners it considers traitors, The Christian Post reports.

According to Heavy, which posted graphic and horrific footage of the executions on its website, the mass killings took place somewhere near Baghdad, the capital of Iraq.

Aside from the executions, the video also shows intense fighting between ISIS jihadis and opposition forces and propaganda messages against Western leaders, including U.S. President Barack Obama.

The prisoners shown being executed in the latest ISIS video were referred to as “sahwat,” those who received assistance from the U.S. in the fight against al-Qaeda, another jihadist group in Iraq.

Dozens of mass graves have been uncovered across Iraq and Syria, an apparent indication that ISIS fighters have already slaughtered thousands of people in their two-year reign of terror, experts say. These mass graves have been documented by the Associated Press and other news outlets. For instance, last month at least 72 mass graves were reportedly unearthed in territories regained from ISIS.

According to journalist Ziad Awad, the mass graves that have been uncovered were just “a drop in an ocean of mass graves expected to be discovered in the future in Syria.”

Many of those slaughtered were Christians, Yazidis, and people from other minority groups that ISIS regards as its enemies. This has prompted both the U.S. and the U.N. to describe the ISIS atrocities as acts of genocide.

Meanwhile, in its latest act of savagery, ISIS members who were caught fleeing the battles in Sharqat district in northern Iraq were crushed to death by a large bulldozer in the city of Mosul, al-Sumaria News reported on Monday. The report was picked up by Iraqi News.

The report said the seven ISIS prisoners had their hands and legs chained before they were executed in a public square in the city of Mosul. The victims included Arab and foreign nationals previously recruited by ISIS.

ISIS announced that the executions were meant to warn members of the punishment they would receive if they fled the battlefield.
