Is Iran Discussed in Bible Prophesy?

Does the nation of Iran play a part in Bible prophecy? If so, what part would that be?

Iran’s Hostility

We know that Iran would love nothing more than to destroy the nation of Israel and clearly they would rejoice at the destruction of America. That’s why it’s such a mystery that the U.S. sends them 11.9 billon dollars so that they would not develop nuclear weapons, but they still defiantly proclaim the West as the great Satan and Israel as their worst enemy. This money was the result of “talks” with Iran that is aimed at preventing the country from developing nuclear weapons, but according to a State Department official, it’s impossible at the present time and given the current circumstance to monitor such development. What is ironic is that the U.S. wants to stop terrorism, so they give Iran billions of dollars, knowing that they are a sponsor of terrorism. It’s like they want to put out a fire so they throw gasoline on it. Tragically, Iran could use these “billions” to finance its worldwide terror operations, as they have in the past (and presently are?), but this mega-bucks deal has not changed anything because Iran has continued to enrich uranium under the interim deal, so what kind of deal was this anyway. It’s akin to paying a bank robber so he won’t rob again, but providing him with the means to have greater weaponry.

Strengthening our Enemies?

The kind of deals that the U.S. has provided Iran is decidedly in Iran’s favor because the U.S. sees Iran as the world’s foremost state sponsor of terrorism, including a supporter of terrorist groups such as Hezbollah and Hamas, but they’re also a backer of Assad’s brutal regime in Syria. Democratic Senator Bob Menendez is a leading critic of the administration’s Iran deal, and believes that the Iranian government “will use a significant percentage of this payout to foment instability and violent extremism across the Middle East… regardless of whether there is a nuclear deal, and we must take steps urgently to formulate a strategy that pushes back and counters Iranian terrorism.” If Iran does play a role in the end time events leading up to the return of Christ, the U.S. has played a significant role in helping them to fund their terroristic endeavors. As is often the case, instead of trying to solve issues, the U.S. throws money at problems, thinking that this will solve them, but instead, the money is likely going to be used to support and sponsor terrorism, while also (very likely) building nuclear weapons that are bent toward the annihilation of Israel. The road to destruction is paved with good intentions…even worse when America supplies the pavement for this road to ruin. There is something very wrong here.

Iran in Prophecy?

Does the Bible mention Iran in prophecy? Not by name because they were not knows as Iran at the time in which the Bible was written, but in the end times, the Bible seems to group the “kings of the east” together and China, Russian, and even Iran may be these kings mentioned in the Book of Revelation. The Apostle John wrote, “The sixth angel poured out his bowl on the great river Euphrates, and its water was dried up, to prepare the way for the kings from the east” (Rev 16:12), and these “kings of the east” may well be under the influence of demonic powers, who in the end times, “go abroad to the kings of the whole world, to assemble them for battle on the great day of God the Almighty” (Rev 16:14). Russia, China, and Iran could easily be considered as the “kings of the east.” In fact, the word “Iran” means “land of the Aryans,” or the Medes-Persians and Persia is frequently written about by Daniel the Prophet who wrote of the “kings of Media and Persia” (Dan 8:20), and Daniel 10:13 he mentions the “prince of the kingdom of Persia.” The Persians apparently sprang from a people from the hills of Russia known as Indo-Aryans, and settled in Iran as early as 2000 BC. In Ezekiel chapters 38 and 39, Ezekiel warns about a coming war between Persia (Iran) and Israel that will take place sometime after Israel has been re-gathered into Her land as a nation, which occurred on May 14, 1948, so the question is, Is Iran Persia, is Russia Magog, and the “kings of the east” a coalition of allies which would include Turkey, Libya, Sudan, Russian, China, and Iran? In time, we will know for certain. For now, all we can do is to warn those who are not yet saved about the wrath of God that is coming on the unrepentant and on all those who have all their lives rejected Jesus Christ as Lord, Savior, and God. For those who do, they currently have the wrath of God abiding on them, either individually, or collectively as nations.

Conclusion

There is so much mystery about the end times and so much speculation, so all we can do for certain is to cling Christ in these uncertain times and stand upon the Rock that cannot be moved, and the same Rock that will do to all nations and all of mankind, what Nebuchadnezzar’s vision said, where “a stone was cut out by no human hand, and it struck the image on its feet of iron and clay, and broke them in pieces. Then the iron, the clay, the bronze, the silver, and the gold, all together were broken in pieces, and became like the chaff of the summer threshing floors; and the wind carried them away, so that not a trace of them could be found. But the stone that struck the image became a great mountain and filled the whole earth” (Dan 2:34-35). That stone was the kingdom of God, as Christ the Rock, and He will destroy all who oppose God. In time, not even a trace will be found of these nations armies, including Iran’s.
