Recently I saw the incredible titles for Jesus in the book of Hebrews. I want to share them with you for your devotional enjoyment today with a few short comments.
First He is callled the HEIR OF ALL THINGS:
Heb. 1:2 “has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds;”
Jesus became the heir of all things as a man. The good news, we are also fellow heirs of God with Jesus.
Next, He is called the CAPTAIN OF OUR SALVATION.
Heb. 2:10 ¶ “For it was fitting for Him, for whom are all things and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons to glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings.”
He is the captain, in charge of our salvation from beginning to the end. He has your spiritual life in His hand.
He is also called the APOSTLE OF OUR FAITH.
Heb. 3:1 “Therefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our confession, Christ Jesus,”
He is the founder of our faith, His authority reins supreme over His church.
My favorite, He is the HIGH PRIEST OF OUR CONFESSION.

He ushers us into God’s presence, prays for us, represents us, and baptized us with the Holy Spirit.
He is called THE SON OF GOD.
Heb. 4:14 ¶ Seeing then that we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession.
Jesus is the only begotten Son. He is the eternally begotten Son, uncreated and eternal.
He is named the SOURCE OF ETERNAL SALVATION.
Heb. 5:9 And being made perfect, he became the source of eternal salvation to all who obey him,
He is the fountain and source of life itself. He is the fountain that the living water flows from.
Jesus is also our FORERUNNER.
Heb. 6:20 where Jesus has gone as a forerunner on our behalf, having become a high priest forever after the order of Melchizedek.
He entered into heaven as a man for us opening the way. We all now have access into this heavenly life.
Finally, He is the AUTHOR AND FINISHER of our faith.
Heb. 12:2 looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
Our salvation started with Him, is being perfected with Him, and will be brought to completion in Him.
