GOD IS COMING!

MERRY MONDAY BY PARRIS

-‘You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.’ Jer 29:13
“God is coming, God is coming! All the element we swim in, this existence, echoes ahead the advent. God is coming! Can’t you feel it?” Walter Wangerin, Jr.

Today marks the end of the Advent Season. I must say I’ve enjoyed the Advent devotionals along with my daily reading of the Bible these 25 days. Now as we race toward the beginning of a whole new year, do you find yourself hungry? Praying for spiritual hunger is the best prayer you could pray for in 2017. Seek His kingdom then everything else falls into place. Which of the virgins in the parable represents you? Pressing and asking God to stir you up or ‘I have taken off my robe—must I put it on again? I have washed my feet—must I soil them again?’ (SOS 5:3)

I believe the last eight years of our political world caused many of us to be lured into a sleep state or state of apathy. Now we have been given a mandate to surge forward while it is still day. Hunger for God is the longing to encounter Him, to be with Him, and to be filled with His Spirit. When we are hungry for God and His Presence, we will do whatever it takes to get close to Him.

Hunger is remembering what is what like to be full. I will never forget in 1994 hearing these words, ‘You have forsaken your first love. Remember the height from which you have fallen’ (Rev 2:4-5)

Ways to stir up your hungry is to come up with a new Bible plan, attend a fellowship group, read books that stir your soul and download fresh worship music. Recall the past mercies of the Lord and prepare for fresh marching orders from the Lord.

Let’s ‘Taste and see that the Lord is good.’ Ps 34:8

Charles Finney said, “God requires us to seek with all our hearts, to lay out the utmost strength of our souls, if we would successfully resist the devil, and really break the chains of sin, and secure so great a treasure as eternal life. It is also implied that we seek the kingdom of God with perseverance. We must press on till we obtain. This is the great business of life–to get back from revolt, to obedience–from our state of rejection, cast out from God, to a state of acceptance, where we shall be sons and daughters of the Lord Almighty. Then let us persevere in seeking the whole of this change until it be completely effected. The nature of the case demands such perseverance. The blessings within reach are too great and precious to be lost for want of perseverance in the pursuit. They will amply reward you for a whole life of most earnest seeking.”

See you around in 2017!
