Key Thought
Jesus knows that he will face the horrors of the Cross alone. He has no illusions about what will happen. Scripture has foretold it. His heart knows it. He lies on the verge of experiencing it. In Ray Overholt's hymn, "Ten Thousand Angels," the truth of Jesus' words are powerfully recognized: "He could have called ten thousand angels To destroy the world and set Him free. He could have called, ten thousand angels, But He died alone, for you and me." Jesus knows his death is coming. He knows he will be abandoned, betrayed, and denied. He goes through it anyway… for us.
Prayer
Loving Father and Almighty God, I am humbled and appreciative of the incredible and sacrificial love your Son demonstrated for me. Please accept my life as my thank you for such incredible grace. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

Who really believed the things we announced? Who really accepted the Lord's punishment? He grew up like a small plant before the Lord. He was like a root growing in dry ground. He did not look special. He had no special glory. If we looked at him, we would see nothing special that would cause us to like him. People made fun of him, and his friends left him. He was a man that had much pain. He knew sickness very well. People did not even give him the honor of looking at him. We did not even notice him.
