‘Duck Dynasty’ Star Phil Robertson Takes on Donald Trump’s Critics: ‘They Need to Lighten Up’
People are not through yet in criticising Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump, prompting "Duck Dynasty" star Phil Robertson to come out again to defend the business magnate.
Just recently, a group of 100 evangelical leaders signed a letter condemning Trump and urging people not to vote for him during next month's U.S. presidential election. Robertson says these pastors need to stop belittling Trump and try to minister God's Word to him instead.
"I would say they need to lighten up, start going out and preaching the gospel to different people, including Donald Trump, and give him some time to think about spiritual matters, and work with him, and not condemn anybody," he said during an interview with WABC radio host Rita Cosby on Friday, adding that "the litmus test they're using is not a correct one."
When Robertson met with Trump, he took the time to share the gospel with him. He even drew the gospel out in symbols — an arrow coming down from heaven to show God becoming flesh, then Jesus dying on the cross. Robertson appreciated the fact that Trump showed genuine interest in his talk, and even pocketed his drawing.
"Now whether he will put his faith in that or not, we'll wait. I would just remind America, we need to give Donald Trump time, or anyone else, when it comes to 'Well you know, he did this and did that'… like we're not all sinners? I mean, give me a break."

Even evangelist Franklin Graham had something to say to Trump lambasters. The 11-year-old video showing Trump making lewd remarks on women surfaced this weekend.
"The crude comments made by Trump more than 11 years ago cannot be defended. But the godless progressive agenda of Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton likewise cannot be defended," he said on his Facebook page. "I am not endorsing any candidates in this election. I have said it throughout this presidential campaign, and I will say it again — both candidates are flawed. The only hope for the United States is God."
