Divorced and remarried Christians must not have sex, says Archbishop

Archbishop of Philadelphia Charles Chaput

Catholics who have divorced and remarried without first obtaining an annulment must not have sex with their new spouse, a leading Catholic bishop has stated.

In a new set of pastoral guidelines Archbishop of Philadelphia Charles Chaput says divorced and remarried Catholics, as well as all who cohabit without being married, must not have sex if they want to be allowed to receive communion in church.

He also warns that openly gay couples should n..

Holsclaw Responds to Ware

My colleague at Northern, Geoff Holsclaw, whose dissertation was accepted for publication in a series edited by arch-Trinitarian theologian Lewis Ayres, has responded to Bruce Ware’s recent post. Geoff has provided the whole of Ware’s post so you can read what he says and Geoff responds within the post and I have his comments in italics for ease.
Geoff: As many know there has been a “civil war” of sort raging among Reformed complementarians about whether or not the Son is eternally subordinate t..

Relieve stress with an inside-out attitude

Relieve stress with an inside-out attitude.
Stress, pressure, constantly feeling overwhelmed. As our lives have filled up with expectations and commitment, this seems to be our natural state.
At any moment there is some obligation that we are not living up to, and we feel it acutely.
Are we good parents? We try, but we probably let our kids watch too much TV and we’re not as consistent with our discipline as we’d like. Are we good follo..

Waving placards such as “Out damned spot” and “Bliar”, activists who have fought their corner year after year, often in the face of ridicule and contempt from the mainstream, continued their..

Thought for the morning of Wed July 6, 2016

Verse: “Whoso hearkeneth unto me shall dwell safely, and shall be quiet from fear of evil.” — pr 1:33
Thought: Divine love is rendered conspicuous when it shines in the midst of judgments. Fair is that lone star which smiles through the rifts of the thunder clouds; bright is the oasis which blooms in the wilderness of sand; so fair and so bright is love in the midst of wrath. When the Israelites provoked the Most High by their continued idolatry, he punished them by withholding both dew and rain, so..

Judge Grants Injunction Against Indiana Law Banning Abortion of Down Syndrome Children

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — A federal judge has granted an injunction against an Indiana law that bans the murder of unborn children based on a Down Syndrome diagnosis or any other disability, but stops short of ending all abortion in the state.

As previously reported, H.B. 1337 was signed into law in March to protect babies that would otherwise be killed because of an adverse diagnosis.

“Indiana does not allow a fetus to be aborted solely because of the fetus’s race, color, national origin, ancestry..

Bible Study Meets Crafting: The Bible Journaling Craze

What this artsy trend among Christian women shows us about offline spirituality.

Lately I’ve been more than a little intimidated by the pictures people are posting of their Scripture art-journaling on social media, probably because they make my own quiet-time doodling look like the work of a five-year-old. Though I’ve been marking up my Scripture reading and prayers with pens and colored pencils for several years, my colorful masterpieces are not crafted for public consumption.
