Key Thought

This is a great question if it comes from a genuine heart. You will have to read for yourself and decide if this man’s heart was genuine. Better yet, why not look at your own heart and ask the Lord Jesus this same question. I bet if you listen this week, he will make that clear to you if he has not already done so.

Prayer

O God, please help me be confident of my future with you. May that confidence be based on my obedient response to your gracious gift of salvation. I trust that by the power of the Holy Spirit, you will empower me to be and to do what pleases you. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Acts 16:29

“So, all the Jewish people should know this truly: God has made Jesus to be Lord and Christ. He is the man you nailed to the cross!” When the people heard this, they felt very, very sorry. They asked Peter and the other apostles, “Brothers, what should we do?” Peter said to them, “Change your hearts and lives and be baptized, each one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ. Then God will forgive your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. This promise is for you. It is also for your children and for the people that are far away. It is for every person that the Lord our God calls to himself.” Peter warned them with many other words; he begged them, “Save yourselves from the evil of the people that live now!” Then those people who accepted (believed) what Peter said were baptized. On that day about 3,000 people were added to the group of believers.
Acts 2:36-41

There was a man named Nicodemus. Nicodemus was one of the Pharisees. He was an important Jewish leader. One night Nicodemus came to Jesus. Nicodemus said, “Teacher, we know that you are a teacher sent from God. No person can do these miracles that you do without God’s help.” Jesus answered, “I tell you the truth. A person must be born again. If a person is not born again, then that person cannot be in God’s kingdom.” Nicodemus said, “But if a person is already old, how can he be born again? A person cannot enter his mother’s body again! So a person cannot be born a second time!” But Jesus answered, “I tell you the truth. A person must be born from water and the Spirit. If a person is not born from water and the Spirit, then he cannot enter God’s kingdom. A person’s body is born from his human parents. But a person’s spiritual life is born from the Spirit. Don’t be surprised that I told you, ‘You must be born again.’
