Verse
With Christ as my witness, I speak with utter truthfulness. My conscience and the Holy Spirit confirm it.
Thought
As we have been seeing over the last several days, our assurance of truth about the message of Jesus is the Holy Spirit. Paul is sharing the most personal and convicting things in his heart about his love for the Jewish people, about the inclusion of Gentiles in the people of God, and about the message of Jesus for all people. He is not saying these things lightly. He is not exaggerating his deep emotions or the importance of these truths to his heart. Jesus is a witness to what he says and he is willing to own his words before the Lord. The Holy Spirit is not only behind the inspiration of these words, but also confirms the truth of them. The message of Jesus — its truth, timeliness, and touching power — has its confirmation in the Holy Spirit.
Prayer
Righteous Father, may the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart be pleasing to you. Please shape my words and my thoughts through the Holy Spirit who is at work in me and also in my thoughts and words. I want to speak clearly, simply, honestly, and with conviction. Without the Spirit's work in my heart and mind, this will never be so. Please make it so, I pray, in Jesus' name. Amen.
