Her Abortion Was Botched So Badly it Left Part of the Baby “Putrefying” Inside of Her

Jane nearly died from an illegal, botched abortion prior to Roe v. Wade. And for that reason, she is fighting to keep abortion legal today.

She and three other women who had illegal abortions prior to Roe recently shared their horrific abortion experiences in a video by The Scene, according to the Daily Mail.

Jane, whose last name is not provided, said she had the abortion in 1968 after a man broke into her room, raped her and threatened to kill her. One horrifying event led to another when she found herself pregnant and decided to have an abortion.

Here’s more from the report:

‘It turns out that in fact the hospital would not do the procedure and so I had to look for an abortionist.’

She drove to upstate Louisiana with a friend where a doctor who claimed to be an MD performed the procedure.

Three days later she was in agony and was forced to go to hospital where doctors told her she was ‘seven hours away from death’.

She said: ‘It had been a very bad abortion. The doctor had actually left in tissue that had, I guess putrefied is maybe the right word, and caused massive infection in this whole area of my body. Peritonitis it’s called.’

After performing a D&C [dilation and curettage] the doctor told her he would have to report it to police.

Despite nearly killing her she said she was reluctant to report the abortionist because he was ‘doing me a favor’.

Far from doing her a favor, the abortionist nearly killed her along with her unborn child. The botched abortion also left her infertile. Eventually, she said she adopted a child because she was unable to have biological children.

“If abortion doesn’t continue to be legal women will lose their lives, women will have abortions, women were having abortions when they were illegal and women died and I almost died,” Jane said.

Abortion has been legal in the U.S. for more than 40 years, but women are still being injured and killed in botched abortions in shoddy practices. In 2009, the Centers for Disease Control reported more than 400 women have died from legal abortions since 1973. However, the CDC data is incomplete, and there likely are more.

Since 2009, even more women have died in legal abortions, along with their unborn babies. One was Tonya Reaves, a young Chicago mother who bled to death after a Planned Parenthood clinic botched her abortion in 2012. According to the full autopsy results obtained by Operation Rescue, it appeared that Reaves’ injuries were survivable if she had received proper emergency care in a timely manner.

Cree Erwin and Lakisha Wilson are two others. Lakisha Wilson reportedly died after a botched abortion at an Ohio abortion facility in 2014. In 2016, pro-lifers in Michigan also learned that Erwin’s death almost certainly was the result of a botched abortion.

And few who know about it can forget the horrors found in Philadelphia abortionist Kermit Gosnell’s abortion facility barely ten years ago. Several women died along with their babies after having abortions Gosnell’s “house of horrors” abortion facility. Many others were injured.

Abortion activists claim that abortion should be legal to protect women from being injured and killed in dangerous, back alley abortions. But these same pro-abortion groups aggressively oppose abortion clinic regulations that help to ensure abortion facilities are meeting basic health and safety standards.

As many pro-life groups have said in the past, legalizing abortion did not stop women from being injured and killed in abortions. It merely allowed the back alley abortionists to start practicing on main street.
