A few years ago at a conference, I held a large banner that read: “Azerbaijanis: God’s gateway people to the Muslim world.” One quizzical individual pondered a few minutes before asking me whether this was a real place.

Azerbaijanis get that a lot.

They are one of the few peoples that span numerous countries with different linguistic and cultural contexts. The Republic of Azerbaijan is home to 9 million Azerbaijanis, but its low profile on the world stage leads many to underestimate its signif..

PassageRomans 12:3-8
PrayerDear Father, who wills our interdependence,Having gifts that differ, let us use them appropriately according to your will.If prophesy, in proportion to one's faith. If service, diligently serving. If teaching, instructively teaching. If exhortation, strongly motivating encouragement. If giving, with liberal and generous contributions. If giving aid, with zeal. If acts of mercy, with cheerfulness.Great Giver, give your gifts to your people through your people. But ..

Of all the Bible’s many colorful characters, none are quite so exasperating as Job’s friends. Herod might chop off your head, and Judas might stab you in the back, but Eliphaz, Bildad, and Zophar will hurt you with Bible verses.

Job’s actual losses take two brief chapters to recount (Job 1–2), but the tortuous dialogue that follows drones on for 35 chapters (Job 3–37). I wonder which agonized Job more: his initial suffering or the extended indictment that followed?

The problem with Job’s comf..

As a Baptist, I’m often frustrated or confused by how my fellow denominational brothers handle the Lord’s Supper. At churches I’ve attended in the past, we’ve participated in the Supper every week in some places, ted quarterly at others. There is one instance in which I can’t remember eating a single little wafer in my entire time at the church.
But how often should we take the Supper? While I know that the Bible doesn’t give a mandate for how often churches should remembe..

In 1975, when he was just 13 years old, Ed Copeland spent his summer working in the cornfields of Illinois. Although he eventually became a lawyer, a pastor, and a TGC Council member, he was first a detasseler, removing the top most part from corn plants to encourage cross-pollination and higher yields.

It was “grueling and tedious” work, Ed says, but it prepared him for the pastorate.

Perseverance

Detasseling was “a rite of passage” in the Corn Belt. Teenage boys “too young to work at fast-..

Your name is ointment poured forth.
Song of Solomon 1:3
Morning
Your name is ointment poured forth.

Christ … has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma. § Therefore, to you who believe, He is precious. § God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow. § In Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily.

If you love Me, keep My commandments. § The love ..

MERRY THURSDAY BY PARRIS

-“And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into His image with intensifying glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit” 2 Cor. 3:18 Berean

Our good friend Kelanie Goeckler wrote a song called “The New has Come” and in her lyrics she sings “I am becoming like the One I’m beholding. The old is gone, and the new has come”.

The more we behold the scripture, behold Christ in His intimacy and behold the love of God a..

PassageRomans 12:1-2
PrayerDear Father, all worthy God,I present my body to you, O Lord, as a living sacrifice. May it be holy and pleasing to you.Let this be my spiritual act of worship, not done at set times of remembrance, but constantly, moment by moment, day by day, night by night.Let me not be conformed any longer to the pattern of this world, which is doomed to pass away. Instead, let me be transformed by the renewing of my mind, so that I may be able to test and approve what your holy wi..

Who can say, “I have made my heart clean…”?
Proverbs 20:9
Morning
Who can say, “I have made my heart clean …”?

The Lord looks down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there are any who understand, who seek God. They have all turned aside, they have together become corrupt; there is none who does good, no, not one. § Those who are in the flesh cannot please God.

To will is present with me, but how to preform what is good I do not find. For the good that I will do, I do not do; but..
