WAY-MAKERS AND SEED PLANTERS

1Cor. 3:6-9 – I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the growth. So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God who gives the growth. He who plants and he who waters are one, and each will receive his wages according to his labor. For we are God’s fellow workers. You are God’s field, God’s building.

There is lots of activity preparing the way for the work of God. Think of the seed planters in your life before you were born again. For me there was the Prayers of “Aunt Grace”, the altar call at Terry Parker Baptist Church, the Sunday School teacher in eighth grade, and the countless soul winners that shared Christ with me over the years. For Jesus there was hundreds of years of prophets, John the Baptist, and the whole Roman Empire building infra-structure for the move of God. Today, God’s preparations are under way right under our noses. We are not sure of what and when but the kingdom of God is about to explode on the scene. Here are some thoughts from Louie Giglio on the preparations of the Lord.

“When God gets ready to do something great, He prepares the way. One thing leads to another and when the time is right, God arrives to do what only He can do. So don’t be bogged down today by the hard work of building roads for those around you. Remove the stones where you can. Pave a smooth path when you have the opportunity. You may not get to see the harvest every time, but you can plant the seed. You may not be there when your friend puts her faith in Jesus, but you can play your part by telling her about His love. With God, nothing is wasted. Some plant, others water, and still others harvest. Sometimes we get to do all three. But every time, it is God who is doing the work to bring the increase.”
The best thing is we don’t have to figure any of it out, our role is just to follow the Lord and do our part. Praying for someone here, giving a gospel tract there, and sharing our testimony when the time is right are all tools preparing hearts for the King. Whether you plow the soil, plant seeds, or reap the harvest all of it has its part. The King is coming and our joyful anticipation deepens.
