A Friend Like No Other – Matthew 4:24

Key Passage

The news about Jesus spread all over Syria. And people brought all the sick people to Jesus. These sick people were suffering from different kinds of diseases and pain. Some people were suffering with very bad pain, some people had demons inside them, some people were epileptics, and some people were paralyzed (crippled). Jesus healed all these people.

Key Thought

Jesus healed them all! He could handle any kind of pain. He could handle any kind of person. He could meet any kind of need. He could overthrow any kind of oppression. No wonder people heard about him from all over the region. In an old hymn, Christians sing about Jesus, who "knows all about our struggles," who is a friend like no other—he not only cares about our pain, he also ministers to it. So what struggle, hurt, pain, challenge, or illness do we refuse to share with him?

Prayer

Loving God and Tender Shepherd, please hear my cry for help with the struggles and difficulties in my life. I confess that all too often I have tried to handle them alone. I know I cannot face these difficulties without your help, grace and power. Please bless me with these today, I pray, in Jesus' name. Amen.

Related Scriptures

We have a great high priest who has gone to live with God in heaven. He is Jesus the Son of God. So let us continue strongly in the faith we have. Jesus, the high priest that we have, is able to understand our weaknesses. When Jesus lived on earth, he was tempted in every way. He was tempted in the same ways that we are tempted, but he never sinned. With Jesus as our high priest we can feel free to come before God's throne where there is grace (forgiveness). There we receive mercy and kindness to help us when we need it.
Hebrews 4:14-16

Jesus heard this, and he said to them, "Healthy people don't need a doctor. It is the sick people that need a doctor. I did not come to invite good people. I came to invite sinners."
Mark 2:17

Christ carried our sins in his body on the cross. He did this so that we would stop living for sin and live for what is right. By his (Christ's) wounds you were healed.
