dc Talk’s ‘Jesus Freak’ Single Turns 21

dc Talk’s legendary “Jesus Freak” turned 21 today. The lead single from the album of the same name, released on this day in 1995, changed the Christian music industry forever.

The song won dc Talk, comprised of TobyMac, Kevin Max and Michael Tait, 3 Dove Awards (Song of the Year, Rock Recorded Song of the Year, Short Form Music Video of the Year) and quickly became a game-changer for the group as it found great success on both Christian radio and even some non-Christian stations. The track was praised by many, including Entertainment Weekly and the Chicago Tribune for its “textured vocals, aggressive guitar, and solid songwriting.”
