Heath McNease Shares Facebook Post About Indie Artist Struggles

In a lengthy Facebook post early this morning, rapper Heath McNease talked vulnerably about the struggles of being an indie artist. Giving exact stats and numbers on his album streams vs. downloads, he talked about the frustrations that come to artists because fans are quick to stream music for free instead of actually buying it.

After comparing the numbers of iTunes sales against the money made from streaming sites like Bandcamp and Noisetrade, Heath announced, “I’ll be releasing this new project on Noisetrade first. It’ll cycle out to all the other outlets shortly after. But this is me telling you that the life of an indie artist is so deeply complicated. So hard. So uplifting and encouraging at times…but so ultimately humbling and humiliating at others.”
